Amazon has announced a significant enhancement to its Prime membership program: a permanent free subscription to Grubhub.
This decision integrates restaurant food delivery directly into Amazon.com and the Amazon Shopping app, offering Prime members even more value for their $139 annual subscription fee.
Prime members will now enjoy free delivery on Grubhub orders of $12 or more, among other benefits.
Previously, Amazon had provided Prime customers with a free one-year subscription to Grubhub Plus, which auto-renewed at $129 annually.
The new arrangement makes this service a permanent fixture of the Prime membership, eliminating the additional renewal fee.
Amazon assures that the ordering experience on its platform is identical to that on Grubhub’s website or app.
This service is also accessible to all customers, not just Prime members, expanding its reach and usability.
Amazon and Grubhub plan to continue their collaboration on various promotions, including special food pairings and limited-time offers like the Nuka Burger for the premiere of the Fallout series.
The inclusion of Grubhub is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to enhance its Prime membership benefits.
Prime members already enjoy a suite of services including Prime Video, Amazon Music, and premium add-ons like RxPass, which offers common medications for $5 a month, and unlimited grocery delivery from Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh for $10 a month.
Additionally, Prime members can use the code PRIME5 to get $5 off a Grubhub meal of $25 or more, if ordered through Amazon by June 2nd.
