Pinterest Expands Inclusion Efforts with Rebranded and Expanded Fund

Pinterest announced today the evolution of its Creator Inclusion Fund, now rebranded as the Pinterest Inclusion Fund.

This is a significant shift as the company partners with Shopify’s Build Black & Native program to extend the fund’s reach to small business owners from or who serve underrepresented backgrounds.

Previously, the fund was exclusive to traditional content creators.

The rebranded Inclusion Fund serves as a six-week accelerator program designed to help creative entrepreneurs leverage Pinterest to grow their brands and businesses.

This new iteration launched today in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand to other countries, including Brazil, India, France, and Argentina, in the near future.

Small businesses selected for the program will gain access to a range of educational and financial resources.

These include the ability to integrate their Shopify accounts with Pinterest, participate in training sessions provided by Shopify, receive mentorship, monetary stipends, and paid subscriptions to various workplace software-as-a-service (SaaS) tools.

A Broader Definition of Inclusion

Initially launched in 2021, the Creator Inclusion Fund aimed to support underrepresented creators—individuals from the LGBTQ+ community, those with disabilities, plus-sized creators, and those identifying as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).

The new iteration broadens the scope to include creative entrepreneurs and small business owners, reflecting Pinterest’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the creator economy.

Pinterest plans to continue its quarterly investments into the fund, now with an international focus each quarter.

Traditional creators who also operate small businesses and sell products online can still apply, as can those represented by boutique agencies accepted into the program.

Since its inception, Pinterest has invested over $3.3 million in the accelerator program, benefiting more than 150 participants globally.

The collaboration with Shopify’s Build Black & Native program is a strategic move to empower small businesses, providing them with the tools and knowledge to effectively use Pinterest as a growth platform.

By offering a comprehensive package of resources and support, Pinterest aims to help these businesses thrive and create a more inclusive digital marketplace.
