Zoom, the prominent video conferencing platform, has inaugurated a fresh workspace in London, signaling a strategic step as the company encourages its workforce to embrace in-person collaborations.

The newly established Holborn office, characterized as an ‘engagement hub’ by Zoom, extends an invitation to over 200 UK-based employees to adopt a hybrid work model. This approach, championed by company executives, calls for a blend of office-based and remote workdays each week.

Zoom experienced an extraordinary surge in popularity and share price during the Covid-19 pandemic, an era marked by widespread remote work mandates. However, despite reaping significant benefits from the remote work trend, the company now advocates for a part-week presence of its workforce within physical office spaces.

Phil Perry, Head of UK & Ireland at Zoom, noted, “The landscape of modern work has undergone a transformation. Employers and employees alike have reaped rewards from a more adaptable work approach and seek to leverage technologies like Zoom to perpetuate these advantages. Organizations that adeptly navigate these shifts, harness technology and flexible work options, while optimizing in-person collaboration, stand to excel in the competitive pursuit of top-tier talent. The sentiment resonates here at Zoom.”

Zoom’s novel London workspace marks a shift from conventional offices to an ‘experiential working hub,’ infused with Zoom’s signature video call technology. Distinctive features highlighted by the company encompass ‘library-style benches,’ ‘agile tables,’ and ‘touchdown spaces,’ which are compact enclaves thoughtfully scattered throughout the facility.”
