Labrys Technologies Secures $5.5 Million to Revolutionize Global Defence Coordination

In the wake of European countries bolstering their defense budgets, London-based Labrys Technologies has secured a substantial $5.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by Project A Ventures, backed by ARX and Quantum Systems, with participation from international DefenceTech-focused investors, including MD-One, Offset Ventures, Marque Ventures, and Expedition Fund.

Founded in 2019 by August Lersten and Luke Wattam, Labrys Technologies is a defense tech startup with a vision to transform how major Defence and Commercial entities coordinate with global teams, networks, and communities on the ground. The startup plans to utilize the funding to scale its engineering team, expand its commercial team, and execute its roadmap, including the development of an Autonomous Mission Network Capability.

The Problem: Coordinating a Global Workforce in the Digital Age

In the current digitally connected world, coordinating the secure verification, tracking, tasking, and payment of a global workforce poses significant challenges for major Defense and Commercial entities. This leads to economic wastage, operational risk, reliance on unverifiable open-source data sets, and difficulties in sustaining key human relationships at scale.

Labrys Technologies aims to address this issue by building the world’s first software platform that integrates user verification (KYC), location-based tracking, encrypted communications, task management, geo-located media overlay, and digital payments within a secure unified application.

Labrys’ Innovative Solution: Command and Control Software Application

Labrys is developing a Command and Control (C2) Software Application for Defence and Dual-Use cases. This platform enables Defence and Commercial entities to manage and coordinate a globally distributed workforce through a single interface in a secure, faster, and compliant manner. The company’s founders, Lersten and Wattam, bring deep experience in military technology applications and operations.

The technology platform developed by Labrys has already proven to be invaluable, connecting individuals with rescue teams, facilitating the sharing of vital information, and ensuring safe passage. The AI-enabled solution promises to automate the process of building, sustaining, tasking, and coordinating a global digital workforce of any size.

Words from Labrys Technologies’ Leadership

“The success of our seed funding round is a testament to the dedication and dynamism of the Labrys team. We are excited about the potential to drive innovation in defence technology and the global development and commercial sectors,” said August Lersten, Co-Founder and CEO of Labrys Technologies.

With European countries increasing their defense budgets and a growing recognition of the need for advanced technology in military applications, Labrys Technologies stands at the forefront of transforming the landscape of global defense coordination. As the company continues to develop its groundbreaking platform, the world watches with anticipation for the positive impact it could have on defense and commercial operations worldwide.
