The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) announced on Tuesday 17th October, a themed Competition called “Novel Disruptive Science Impacting Future Defence and Security.” This competition is made possible with funding from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), offering up to £750,000 for early-stage ideas and concepts that have the potential to transform the future of defense.
This competition unfolds in two phases, with Phase 1 aimed at gathering innovative science and technology (S&T) ideas and concepts that could disrupt the defense landscape, paving the way for radical change. Disruption in this context means significant shifts in how we approach things – whether it’s introducing new capabilities or addressing emerging threats.
After Phase 1, selected projects will receive additional funds to advance their research. The most promising projects could access a share of the £750,000 (excluding VAT) to further develop their groundbreaking ideas or concepts.
If you have an out-of-the-box idea with a low Technology Readiness Level (TRL 1-2), originating from any discipline, that has the potential to reshape the defense or security landscape, this competition welcomes your proposals. You’re not limited by current defense needs; instead, we’re looking for a glimpse into the future, a vision of disruptive innovations that could revolutionize how we protect our nation.
If you’re ready to contribute to the future of defense, review the complete competition document and submit your proposal.
As an opportunity to learn more and engage with the competition’s challenge area, a webinar is scheduled for October 31, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM GMT. During this session, you’ll gain deeper insights into the problem space and have the chance to ask questions in an open forum. Register on the Eventbrite page if you’d like to participate.
This competition is your chance to be part of the journey towards a more innovative and secure future for defense and security. If you have groundbreaking ideas that could disrupt the status quo, take a closer look at the competition details and submit your proposal to contribute to the defense of tomorrow.
